Here are the top three stories today in St. Louis:

  1. DEA St. Louis Division collected more than 38,000 pounds of prescription drugs during its annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event. This year's collection was slightly more than last year's collection. The annual program is part of the department's efforts to fight the overdose epidemic the country is currently facing. (RiverBender.com)
  2. The St. Louis Public School District is working to raise teachers' pay and benefits. The proposed package is meant to attract the best teachers to the city's public schools. The new pay rate will offer an unprecedented eight percent increase with three percent increases over the next two years. (KMOV4)
  3. The St. Louis Zoo has two new residents: endangered Amur leopard cubs. The twin females were born last month. Fewer than 100 wild Amur leopards remain in the wild. Anya and Irinia are reportedly doing well and will remain in the indoor private maternity den for the next few months. (St. Louis Public Radio)
