Police Believe Mother Shot Husband, Daughter And Herself

ST. LOUIS, MO — Police have released more details on a shooting that left three dead in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood of South St. Louis last week. The Post-Dispatch reports that investigators now believe 32-year-old Mary Jo Trokey shot her husband Matthew, 33, and their 3-month-old daughter, Taylor.

Officials say Trokey purchased a gun days before the shooting and that she may have suffered from mental illness.

The three bodies were found Friday afternoon by a parent of one of the adults, according to media reports, and police said the shooting probably occurred the Thursday night.

A gun was recovered at the scene and police found no sign of forced entry into the home, leading them to suspect murder-suicide.
