Police Identify Teen Shot By Officers Thanksgiving Day
Rehyen Bost-McMurray was 17 years old. Officers say he was armed.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Police have identified Rehyen Bost-McMurray, 17, as one of two teenagers shot by police on Thanksgiving Day. Officers were on a routine patrol Nov. 25 in the College Hill neighborhood of North St. Louis when the driver of a 2016 Hyundai pulled out of an alley, lost control and struck the curb. Four young men excited the car and ran. According to police, one of them, Bost-McMurray, pointed a Glock handgun at police and officers shot him in the head and upper body. He died at a nearby hospital. A 14-year-old boy who had been a passenger in the car was also injured in the gunfire. He has not been identified, but is said to be in stable condition.
Officials said the car was later recognized as the same one stolen in a carjacking in Warren a day earlier, but officers did not know that at the time. Two additional passengers in the car fled the scene and are still at large, police said.
The officers who opened fire are 30 years old and 29 years old, respectively, and have six years of service between them. They feared for their lives, St. Louis Police Chief Lawrence O'Toole said at a press conference. Both have been placed on administrative leave per department policy, and the Force Investigation Unit is looking into the shooting.
