Police Looking For Woman 'Too Old To Be Wearing Aeropostale'

Police are looking for a suspect described as a thin, blond woman who is "too old to be wearing Aeropostale."

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO — Police in St. Louis County are seeking a woman they say wrote bad checks at several local businesses, but the way police announced it is getting more attention than the crime. In a Facebook post shared by the St. Louis County Police Department Monday, the suspect is described as a thin, blond woman who is "too old to be wearing Aeropostale." The post has since been edited to remove that description.

Here's how that portion of the post read before the edit:

The suspect is described as:
-White Female
-Age: too old to be wearing Aeropostale
-Thin build
-Blond hair

Some commenters called the post sexist and ageist. Others praised the attempt at viral humor as an effective way to get users to share the post and help identify the woman, who can be seen in surveillance photos released by police below.

In the photos, she appears to flee in a 2001 or 2002 Hyundai Accent that is missing the passenger-side hubcap. A man can be seen driving the vehicle.

What do you think? Was the post sexist? Ageist? Or, did the St. Louis County Police Department just hire an intern too clever by half?
