Here are the top three stories today in St. Louis:
- St. Louis City now has a probable case of monkeypox. The announcement was made by the city's Department of Health on Tuesday. The department is awaiting confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The individual likely contracted monkeypox from outside the state and has had minimal contact within the city. The department believes community spread is not likely. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
- The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has taken a 19-year-old man into custody following a carjacking. The suspect took the department on a police chase early Tuesday morning before being arrested. The carjacking occurred in the 1000 block of Geyer Avenue. At least one other suspect is still on the loose, according to the department. (KSDK.com)
- An East St. Louis woman continues to seek help with her flooding problems. Phyllis Robinson's home has encountered multiple flooding incidents, such as water main breaks, that have caused severe mold issues. She has now filed a formal complaint against Illinois American Water with the state's Commerce Commission. The water utility claims it has paid her less than $5,000 for contracting and alternate housing. (KSDK.com)
