- St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann has sent a proposal to the Missouri state legislature asking the state to take control of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The proposal suggests the takeover if the city is unable to reduce the St. Louis region's crime rate. The proposal also requested a single prosecutor oversee cases in both the city and the county. Governor Parson says it is not the state's role to take over control of a city's police department. (KMOV.com)
- St. Louis's South Grand business corridor has a number of fake signs placed at street crossings. The signs read "All pedestrians crossing any St. Louis street should wear a helmet while crossing such street." The signs are meant to highlight the recent increase in pedestrian fatalities occurring in St. Louis. In 2022, 11 pedestrians have been killed so far, along with two bicyclists. (KMOV.com)
- Last night was National Night Out in St. Louis. The celebration featured a number of block parties throughout the city. Leaders and residents participated in the event meant to raise awareness for drug and crime prevention. The St. Louis City Board of Alderman changed the event's date from August to October to avoid the summer heat and election conflicts. (Fox 2 Now)
