Here are the top stories today in St. Louis:
- The Route 67 ramp at Lindbergh Blvd. to eastbound Interstate 270 will be closing this Friday for 11 hours. The entrance ramp and two lanes of eastbound I- 270 near Coldwater Creek will close at 9 p.m. Friday and reopen by 8 a.m. Saturday. While the lanes are closed, crews will restripe lanes and shift I-270 traffic onto the new bridge over Coldwater Creek, as part of the $278 million I-270 North Project. (KMOV.com)
- Harris-Stowe University in St. Louis is using pandemic funds to cancel student debt from the last academic school year. Harris-Stowe, one of Missouri's two historically Black universities, announced that it used the funds to cancel about $330,000 in debt, an average of about $1,076 per student. Dr. LaTonia Collins Smith, Harris-Stowe’s interim president, said the school officials spent most of the week after it made the announcement convincing students and their parents that it wasn't a hoax, and eventually began receiving numerous calls and letters of gratitude. - On Wednesday, Kindred Hospitals will have a food truck, live music, games, and more, as a part of their unique hiring event at two of the hospital's St. Louis locations, at 4930 Lindell Blvd. and 10018 Kennedy Rd. (RiverBender.com)
- Lailah Green, a 15-year old sophomore at the Metro Academic and Classical High School, has been named "Youth of the Year" by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis. (STLtoday.com)
- The Central West End's legendary Halloween party begins this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and runs until midnight, offering daytime activities for the whole family and an adults-only bash and costume contest at night. (KSDK.com)
