Saint Louis To Get Alamo Drafthouse Theater In 2019

Part cinema, part pub, the city's new Alamo Drafthouse will be part of the City Foundry STL development.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Alamo Drafthouse is coming to St. Louis in 2019. Part cinema, part pub, the new theater will feature 10 screens with reclining seats and a full-service bar and restaurant with four dozen beers on tap. It has been voted the number one theater in America by Entertainment Weekly and the coolest movie theater in the world by Wired.

Alamo Drafthouse will be part of City Foundry STL, a new midtown development project that repurposes 15 acres of former industrial space into restaurants, retail shops and offices.

"We believe something amazing happens when people with diverse backgrounds interact with each other, so we're creating a place where innovators can thrive and grow," the developers write on their website. "City Foundry STL is a place where the public can experience and get inspired, a place where innovative office tenants rub elbows with experimental chefs and retailers."

Alamo Drafthouse says it has a zero tolerance policy for talking or cell phone use during its movies and that it avoids advertisements like the plague. But, if that isn't your style, feel free to shout at the screen during one of their Quote-Along events or pretend you're back in high school by going to one of their slumber party movie events.

The theater plans to hire more than a hundred staff before they open next year, so check their website in the coming months if you're interested in applying.
