Here are the top three stories today in St. Louis:

  1. The Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Institute has received an illustrious conservation award. The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums presented the award for its work on the Center for Avian Health in the Galapagos Islands. For 20 years, the center has focused on studying the rare and wonderful birds of the Galapagos and working on new ways to protect them. It has also developed an early warning system against avian diseases. (Press Release Desk)
  2. The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry is giving free firewood to residents of St. Louis. Residents will be able to pick up their free firewood at three different locations throughout the city. All the wood being offered comes from dead or structurally damaged trees in the area. Pick-up locations can be found at Forest Park, Carondelet Park, and O'Fallon Park. (Press Release Desk)
  3. At least six St. Louis businesses were broken into over the course of one night – five at the same strip mall. The strip mall off Natural Bridge was the target of most of the break-ins. The first call about the break-ins was received at 1:00 a.m. There was a gray Nissan Altima seen leaving the scene. If you have any information, contact the authorities at the link.
