ST. LOUIS, MO — Police are investigating after someone tried to blow up a Bank of America ATM at the intersection Jefferson and Gravois Avenues in south St. Louis Wednesday afternoon, Fox 2 reports. Bomb investigators spent much of the day at the scene analyzing the remnants of what appeared to be a pipe bomb that was planted overnight.

No one was injured in the explosion, which doesn't appear to have been powerful enough to significantly damage the ATM. Police said it was likely the bomb was detonated in an attempt to steal money from the ATM, but the plan failed. The bank and nearby businesses were evacuated while police secured the scene.
