Here are the top three stories in St. Louis today:
- The East St. Louis School District has lifted its uniform requirement for high school students. However, the district has added a clear backpack requirement. Schools will still have a dress code, but it is significantly less restrictive than the uniform requirement. The district hopes that the changes will boost school attendance. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
- A mask mandate has been issued for the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court's jury assembly room. The mandate is temporary and will run from Jul. 25 to Sep. 2. The mandate is in response to a steady increase in COVID-19 infection numbers and applies to everyone that enters a jury assembly room, including court employees. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
- Missouri Attorney General Schmitt has filed a lawsuit against the City of St. Louis to stop the city from using taxpayer money to fund travel for abortions. The money would cover travel expenses for women to travel to Illinois to seek abortion services. Mayor Jones signed a bill allocating $1.5 million to the practice. The attorney general claims that it violates state law. (KMOV4)
