St. Louis Man Sentence To 120 Years After Hammer Attack

Edward Moore was convicted of attacking four homeless people with a hammer.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Edward Moore, a 62-year-old St. Louis man, was sentenced Friday to 120 years in prison for attacking four homeless people with a hammer. Last month, Moore was convicted of four counts of first-degree assault after police said he beat two homeless men and two homeless women inside a vacant school in July 2017.

The Post-Dispatch reports Moore refused to raise his hand to be sworn in at Friday's hearing or respond to the judge's questions. Moore represented himself in court.

According to police, Moore had accused his victims of stealing food and water from the room where he slept in the vacant building.

Moore had just completed serving a 30-year prison sentence for a similar assault that happened in 1991. He was released on parole in June, just weeks before the attack that will land him back in prison likely for the rest of his life.
