St. Louis Police Officer Killed In Accidental Fall From Patio

Authorities say the fall that killed 27-year-old Alexander Klein was likely an accident.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Police say 27-year-old Alexander Klein, a St. Louis Metropolitan Police officer, died Saturday morning after falling from a rear patio at his home on Hannover Avenue in Affton. He was off duty at the time. The death is under investigation, but authorities have said it was likely an accident.

The department is grieving, chief John Hayden said in a statement. He extended his sympathies to Klein's family and asked the St. Louis community to do the same.

Klein had worked for the city since 2012, when he started as a civilian dispatcher. He became a sworn officer in 2014.
