St. Louis Prosecutor Wants Greitens Dismissal Agreement Released
St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner believes the details of the agreement that led to the governor's resignation should be public.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Pushing back against allegations of backroom deals, St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner wants to release the full details of the agreement with former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens that led to his resignation and the dismissal of some of the charges against him.
Greitens announced last week that he would step down in the wake of an ongoing political and legal scandal. He was indicted in February after his former hair dresser accused him of taking a non-consensual, partially-naked photo and using it to blackmail her. Those charges were unexpectedly dropped earlier in May, just as the trial was scheduled to begin. But a special prosecutor was appointed last week to consider refiling the charges.
Greitens had also been accused of lying about campaign filings and violating campaign finance law related to his use of a charity donor list to raise money for his run for governor. He was indicted on those charges in April, but Gardner announced just a day after Greitens announced his resignation that she would dismiss those charges, calling it a "fair and just resolution."

Gardner has asked Missouri Attorney General (and Senate candidate) Josh Hawley if her office can legally release the details of the agreement, which was approved by a judge last week.
The agreement includes seven provisions, according to the Associated Press, and two of them are redacted from public view.
