ST. LOUIS, MO — An armed standoff ended Friday morning with one man dead of a self-inflicted gunshot, police said. Fox 2 reports the 27-year-old man was wanted for assault and drug crimes. He died at a hotel near the intersection of East Grand Avenue and North Broadway, just off Interstate 70 in north St. Louis. Police entered the room after hearing a gunshot and found him in the hotel room's bathtub.

The man had barricaded himself in the room with his girlfriend and a 5-year-old child after police tried to arrest him Friday morning. The woman and child were not hurt. The hotel was evacuated during the standoff and no one else was injured. The man's identity has not been released.
