St. Louis Streetlights Could Have Wasted $50,000: News 4 Report

Many St. Louis streetlights have been burning night and day for months, a News 4 investigation found, costing taxpayers thousands.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Hundreds of St. Louis streetlights burn night and day, costing taxpayers thousands of dollars every year in wasted electricity, according to an investigation from KMOV. City officials said the streetlights, located along Forest Park Parkway in the Central West End and Tucker Boulevard downtown, have been operating around the clock for at least six months.

The city blamed contractors working on the Soldiers Memorial for the downtown lights, but offered no explanation for others.
