Millstadt, IL – Vowing to continue his efforts to lower taxes, reduce inflation and return commonsense to state government, State Representative Kevin Schmidt is formally announcing his intention to seek re-election in the 114th District.

β€œDecades of mismanagement at the state level is leading to job loss and a record number of people leaving our state,” Schmidt said. β€œI ran to be a voice for the people in the 114th District who the political class in our state has ignored and that is exactly what I have done. I have been working with local officials to secure promised funding for local infrastructure needs and I have not wavered in standing up for the values we share.”

Kevin Schmidt is a Board-Certified Chiropractor and the owner of Schmidt Chiropractic in Millstadt. He grew up in Belleville, IL and graduated from Belleville West High School. Schmidt is fighting to bring fiscal responsibility and accountability to Springfield.

β€œI voted against the Governor’s $50.4 billion budget because it included pay raises for legislators and also allocated more than $500 million in funding for programs for people who are in Illinois illegally” Schmidt said. β€œHow could I justify voting for a budget that doles out tax dollars to illegal immigrants while at the same time places such as Washington Park and Cahokia Heights have been waiting years to get the funds promised to them? I had to stand up for the people of this district and that is exactly what I did by voting against the Governor’s budget and it is exactly what I am doing by donating my legislative salary increase to local charities.”

  • Create a taskforce to make recommendations on improving programs and services for veterans (HB1217)
  • Create a grant fund to help communities better afford body cameras (HB1542)

β€œIt is an honor to serve the people of the 114th District,” Schmidt said. β€œWe are making progress in addressing the challenges facing our District. We need to continue to build on this momentum, and we cannot go backwards. I have and will continue to be a voice for EVERYONE in this district. I humbly ask for the voters to again entrust me to represent them as the State Representative in the 114th District.”
