2. St. Louis County Council reduces proposed budget by $49M; vote likely Tuesday (stlpr.org) — St. Louis County leaders are moving to close an $81 million budget gap by trimming $49 million from next year’s proposed spending, largely through long-vacant positions and travel cuts instead of major service reductions. The council could introduce and pass its version of the budget Tuesday, with no tax hikes but possible higher policing contract costs and use of Rams settlement funds. Some officials worry the fast-track process limits public input on potential service impacts.
