- Thousands of Missouri students have contracted COVID-19 in the first weeks of school, including 172 cases in St. Louis city. At least one rural school has been closed for cleaning after an outbreak, and there have been double-digit cases reported in dozens of other districts. Classes have resumed, but masks will be required through Sept. 17. (KMOV.com)
- 16-year-old Troy Williams was shot and killed around 4 a.m. on Sept. 8 at Washington Avenue and 84th Street in East St. Louis. Police have not identified any suspects or persons of interest and are appealing to the public for help. (Belleville News-Democrat)
- Jefferson Barracks Hospital recently unveiled its new medical rehab building, which is part of a larger, ongoing project at the hospital. (Call Newspapers)
