Here are the top three stories today in St. Louis:

  1. A suspect has been arrested and charged for a shooting death that took place outside a local gas station last month. Cameron Delap, 22, has been accused of the death of an innocent bystander, Shree Hemphill of St. Ann, near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and North Kingshighway Boulevard. The Jun. 19 incident reportedly turned deadly after at least one person involved in a car crash at the intersection began firing shots. According to officials, Delap is facing charges of second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and an additional weapons charge.
  2. The St. Louis Zoo is seeking funding for a north St. Louis County outdoor animal park. The 425 acres development will need a $135 million borrowing package to jumpstart. The property at 12385 Larimore Road was purchased by the St. Louis Zoo Association in late 2018 for $7.1 million. The development will focus on conservation and breeding. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
  3. St. Louis City trash collection complaints will likely break a new record. City dumpsters were neglected during June with some even catching fire on Jul. 4. According to the Mayor's office, the issue was due to understaffing and equipment issues. The city received 4,700 complaints through June. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
