Here are the top stories in St. Louis today:
- A teenager who escaped custody at a detention center in September was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 70 Tuesday morning. The accident occurred while mobile undercover surveillance detectives were following a vehicle that contained the 17-year-old escapee. After the vehicle crashed into an embankment, the teen and the driver of the car fled on foot. The juvenile suspect was then struck running into westbound traffic. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
- A St. Louis man has been granted parole after being sentenced to 241 years as a teenager. A jury found Bobby Bostic guilty of 18 criminal charges in 1995 after he and a friend committed an armed robbery. Bostic will be released late next year, according to his representative from the American Civil Liberties Union. He is currently being provided courses to ease his re-entry into society. (KSDK.com)
- The St. Louis police union is suing the city over a dispute about the validity of union contracts. The St. Louis Police Officers Association filed the lawsuit Thursday, arguing that the city was not negotiating the matter of collective bargaining in "good faith" during previous discussions. St. Louis police Chief John Hayden responded to the suit with a statement claiming that he meets with union representatives regularly. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
