Ten-Year-Old Boy Discovers Dead Body On His Way To School

A 10-year-old boy discovered a dead body on his way to school in north St. Louis Wednesday morning. There have been 172 murders this year.

Police said a 10-year-old boy stumbled on a dead body Wednesday morning while walking to school in the College Hill neighborhood of north St. Louis.

Homicide detectives are investigating. Police said the body belonged to a man in his 50s and showed multiple gunshot wounds. They have not released the victim's identity or said how long they think he had been dead before the boy discovered him.

The man's death marks the 172nd murder in St. Louis this year. Another man was killed and three injured in separate shootings Tuesday night. The injured included a 5-year-old girl and a teenager.
