Trump Tours Boeing, Promotes Tax Cuts, Stumps For Hawley

President Trump made his third visit to Missouri Wednesday to promote his tax cuts and fundraise for a Republican Senate candidate.

ST. LOUIS, MO — President Donald Trump visited St. Louis Wednesday to promote a Republican tax bill signed into law last year and attend a $5,000 to $50,000 per plate dinner for Republican Senate candidate Josh Hawley, who will face Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in a statewide election later this year.

McCaskill is expected to have a tough reelection ahead of her, and hanging on to her seat will be key to Democratic hopes of retaking the Senate.

The president toured a Boeing plant that produces F/A-18 Super Hornets for the Navy and Marine Corps and F-15 Eagles for the Air Force — both multi-role fighter jets. He also took part in a business roundtable where he touted the benefits of his signature tax legislation.

As with the Trump's last visit to the area — when he held a rally in St. Charles in November — protesters greeted his visit, gathering outside the Frontenac Hilton where the fundraiser is taking place. Many had come to demand gun reform, overlapping with nationwide school walkouts that took place earlier in the day, including at Clayton High School and about a dozen other area schools.
