Three Sumner High Students Injured In Chemical Attack
Police say a 16-year-old student used a squirt bottle and concentrated acid to burn three of his classmates.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Three students were seriously injured at Sumner High School in north St. Louis when a classmate assaulted them with a homemade chemical solution in the school's library. Police and a hazardous materials team responded to the school around 10 a.m. Officials said the injured students were a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, who were taken to St. Louis Children's Hospital and are in stable condition with chemical burns on their faces. Police initially said there were two victims of the attack, but Friday revealed a third 15-year-old boy was also injured with burns to his hands. He is in stable condition.
Their attacker, said to be a 16-year-old fellow student, is in custody. Police said he used a squirt bottle to spray concentrated acid on his fellow classmates. Police have not revealed a motive and have not released the attacker's name because he is a juvenile.
The St. Louis School District released a statement saying it was aware of the attack and that the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating.
