  1. For the last two years, a local college student has been using her creativity to tailor special gifts for kids in the hospital. Tamar Adler, majoring in fashion merchandising at Fontbonne University, packages individual craft bags with messages of hope inside. She was inspired by the child life specialist who helped her own brother when he was in the hospital following a car accident. To date, Tamar has donated more than 3,000 craft bags. (KSDK.com)
  2. The Saint Louis Art Museum is presenting a new exhibit called "Precious Woods, Pure Enjoyment: Japanese Art from the 19th and 20th Centuries." The free installation, curated by Philip Hu, will be on view in Gallery 225 through Sunday, Oct. 30. "Precious Woods" features works reflecting a range of traditional styles and sources of cultural inspiration that remained strong amid a period of swift modernization and Westernization of Japanese art. 3. A North St. Louis County center is helping people heal through the power of sewing. Kacie Long's love for sewing and building a community for people of color who face daily affiliations led her to create the Sew Hope Community Sewing Room.
