Construction Underway for GFS Marketplace

Nice weather in St. Peters means construction projects. 

On Jungermann Road, Freddy's Frozen Custard is rising from the old Super Smoker's Location. On Mexico Road, Plaza Tire Service is under construction. Along Mid Rivers Mall Drive, right next to Red Robin, another new business is taking shape. 

Back in January, the Planning and Zoning Commission approved a site plan for GFS Marketplace, located on the west side of Mid Rivers Mall Drive, north of Mexico Road. With the lack of rain this week, crews were out hard at work to build the new bulk-food store.

At January's meeting, GFS Marketplace described itself as a Sam's Club-like store with just food and no membership program. The store carries bulk food for catering, parties and restaurants. A representative from the Marketplace said the store is often used by restaurants like Red Robin to get items they need when a delivery isn't due for a few days.

The St. Peters store will be the Marketplace's first forray into the St. Louis area.
