Planning and Zoning Approves Permit for New Courtyard by Marriott in St. Peters

In just 20 minutes the St. Peters Planning and Zoning Commission finished up business for July.
The commission met July 10βone week later than normal thanks to the Fourth of July holidayβand took care of business in a rapid fashion. Faced with just four agenda items, the commission quickly went to work.
Two of the items on the agenda were home occupation permit requests. The approved requests forΒ Hayes Ware, LLC (a web/software consulting service) andΒ Affinity Entertainment Productions, LLC (aΒ consulting and educational workshop).Β
Following the approvals, the commission moved on to the two scheduled public hearings. The first hearing was a request for a special use permit from Midas St. Peters, LLC.Β
Midas HospitalityΒ wants to open aΒ hotel/restaurant and transmission withΒ towers/antennas attached to a structure. The site, located at Veterans Memorial Parkway and Jungermann Road is the former Holiday Inn and Garden Plaza Hotel. The group closed its sale on July 1 and closed the facility.Β
Midas plans to demolish the old hotel and conference space and replace it with a new 125-room Courtyard byΒ Marriott. While the site plans are not totally finished, Midas said the plans include using the whole lot to build both a hotel and a restaurant.Β
Plans also include an AT&T antennae somewhere. Midas wants to place the tower somewhere on the site or on top of the buildingβdepending on how the site plan process goes.Β
TheΒ Courtyard byΒ Marriott would be the first of its kind in St. Charles County.Β Β
The Planning and ZoningΒ CommissionΒ approved theΒ staff'sΒ findings of fact and made aΒ motionΒ toΒ recommendΒ approvalΒ to the Board.Β
After a short executive session, the commission hadΒ a second hearingΒ relating toΒ a change to St. Peters Municipal Codeβspecifically and updateΒ to Title IV Land Use (Chapter 405). The change updates language regarding group homes.Β With no public objection, the code will commission made a motion to recommend approval to the Board of Aldermen.Β
