St. Peters Conducting DWI Checkpoint this Weekend

Drunken drivers should be aware: St. Peters Police will be on the lockout this weekend. 

The St. Peters Police Department will be working with the St. Charles County DWI Task Force the weekend of July 19 to July 21, at an undisclosed location in the city of St. Peters, with the attempts to remove impaired drivers from the road. 

Drunken driving can result in jail time, the loss of a driver's license, or being sentenced to use ignition interlocks. Insurance rates also can rise, along with legal fees. 

Missouri has a zero tolerance law for impaired driving. If drivers are under the legal drinking age of 21, their license will be suspended if they're caught driving with even a trace of alcohol in their system.

“Driving drunk is simply not worth all the consequences,” said new St. Peters Police Chief Jeff Finkelstein in a release. “It is our goal to keep the streets of St. Peters safe throughout the year.”
