Woman Used Others' Info, Fake Prescriptions to Get Prescription Painkiller

A St. Charles woman used other people’s identities and faked prescriptions to buy painkillers from pharmacies in O’Fallon, St. Peters and St. Charles, police said.

Mindi Wyatt, 39, of the 2900 block of Fox Bluff Drive in St. Charles, was charged Feb. 19 with fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

O’Fallon Police reported that Wyatt fraudulently obtained hydrocodone, a painkiller, between Jan. 27, 2012 and March 16, 2012.

Police said she obtained the medication from pharmacies at the Walgreen’s on Mexico Loop Road East in O’Fallon, and Schnuck’s pharmacies at 577 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in St. Peters, 48 Plaza 94 Drive in St. Charles and 8660 Veterans Memorial Parkway in O’Fallon.

An employee at the O’Fallon Walgreens contacted O’Fallon Police March 13, 2012 after calling a physician’s office to check on a prescription. The office reported the doctor had never written a hydrocodone prescription for the name used.

Police said Wyatt admitted being addicted to hydrocodone and said she used up to 50 tablets a day, and used personal information on 15 different people to obtain the prescriptions.

Investigators said she obtained hydrocodone fraudulently at least 11 times.

Bail was set at $15,000 for Wyatt.

She also faces a charge of fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance in Overland on Oct. 19, 2011.
