• Avalanche warning issued for Cooke City (nbcmontana.com) — Backcountry users around Big Sky should know that recent storms and strong winds have created dangerous avalanche conditions, with large slides already reported near Beehive Basin and during Big Sky ski patrol mitigation. While the formal warning targets Cooke City, forecasters say upper elevations across southwest Montana, including the Big Sky area, now have High or Considerable danger and warrant very conservative terrain choices.
   

• The Long and Winding Road (outsidebozeman.com) — If you drive between Big Sky and Bozeman, this deep dive explains why Gallatin Canyon feels so dangerous and what’s actually being done about it. From commuter crashes and pothole-riddled pavement to proposed passing lanes, pull-out redesigns, and a wildlife overpass, agencies and local groups are slowly planning fixes—though most major improvements are still years away.
