  1. Bozeman is preparing to address its short-term rental issues with a new ordinance, which was reviewed by the city commission at their Jun. 27 meeting. The proposed ordinance would be implemented in two phases and aims to enforce existing regulations, introduce quarterly reporting, and carefully designate permissible locations for short-term rentals. You can find information from the meeting here. (NBC Montana)
  2. On Friday afternoon, Jun. 23, a fatal single-car accident occurred north of West Yellowstone, resulting in the death of a woman from Florida. The incident took place at mile marker 37 on U.S. Highway 191 and prompted a response from the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office deputies. While the driver, Warren C. Johnson, 65, was transported to the Bozeman Health Deaconess Regional Medical Center, the passenger, Anne E. Johnson, 61, unfortunately, passed away at the scene. Montana Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash, while the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office coroners are conducting an investigation into the cause of death. (NBC Montana)
  3. As the Fourth of July approaches, the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office is emphasizing the importance of understanding when it is appropriate to call 911. Emergencies that warrant a call include immediate threats to life or property, fireworks-related incidents that pose risks, severe injuries or accidents, and suspicious activities indicating potential harm or crimes. Remember that 911 should only be used for urgent situations requiring immediate assistance from law enforcement, fire, or medical services. For reporting illegal fireworks or noise complaints, please utilize the non-emergency lines at (406) 582-2000 or (406) 582-2100. (Gallatin County Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
