Here are the top three stories today in Helena:
- Helena native Faith Johnson was named Miss Montana 2023 over the weekend. The scholarship pageant was held at Lockwood High School in Billings and featured gown, fitness, and talent competitions. The 23-year-old is a recent graduate of Montana State University and plans to join the running for Miss America early next year. (The Independent Record)
- The 57th Montana State Junior Golf Championships were held Monday and Tuesday in Helena. The competition brought 101 junior athletes from around the state to the Bill Roberts Municipal Golf Course to vie for a spot in the Junior Americas Cup and the Montana/Alberta Ryder Cup Matches. Scores can be viewed through the Montana State Golf Association website. (Montana Right Now)
- The Montana Historical Society honored Juneteenth on Sunday with a three-part celebration. Activities included a lecture and book signing with Laura Aratal, an associate professor of history at Oklahoma State University, and an ice cream social. Helena Mayor Wilmot Collins also gave a special presentation on the history and significance of Juneteenth, issuing a special proclamation to honor the holiday. (Montana Right Now)
