Here are the top stories today in and around Missoula:

  1. The Missoula police are searching for Terry Stahl, a 68-year-old man who was reported missing on Mar. 4. Stahl was last seen at the Poverello Center in Missoula on Feb. 3, and the police are requesting public help for any information related to the case. (NBC Montana)
  2. Missoula College has been chosen as one of sixteen two-year colleges in the United States to implement the "Guided Pathways" framework, which aims to streamline students' college experience and improve post-college success. The National Center for Inquiry & Improvement's Rural Guided Pathways project will provide participating colleges access to research and a team of community college researchers and economic development professionals. (University of Montana)
  3. Warmer and drier climate conditions in western U.S. forests make it less likely trees can regenerate after wildfires, which also limits the chances of seedlings establishing and growing, according to new research from the University of Montana. However, the research suggested that ecologically based forest management can partially offset climate-driven declines in tree regeneration if action is taken quickly. The study provides timely information to optimize new state and federal initiatives to increase the pace of ecologically based forest management across millions of acres of Western forests.
