Here are the top three stories in Missoula today:

  1. The City of Missoula is set to begin work this year to improve stormwater runoff in the South Hills after a series of new springs were opened up by earthquakes several years ago. As part of this ongoing effort, the city also approved roughly $1M for Cattail Corner to improve its stormwater system. An additional $900,000 in stormwater work is set for the 55th Street corridor in South Hills. These projects are being funded largely through grant funds from the American Rescue Plan Act. (KPAX)
  2. The Missoula in Motion commuter challenge has begun! This event aims to lower greenhouse gas emissions by encouraging workers to find sustainable ways to commute. From May 7 - May 20, local businesses and organizations will compete, and both individuals and teams may win prizes for achieving the greatest impact. In Missoula, 71.7 percent of residents usually drive alone, and the city has set a goal to reduce drive-alone trips by 34 percent by 2045. (NBC Montana)
  3. The Indigenous Made Missoula Summer Market is returning this Saturday. The market will be set up in the Missoula Art Museum Art Park and will take place every second and fourth Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. This event aims to uplift Indigenous artisans and will showcase a wide variety of handcrafted art.
