
154 years ago today, March 1st, 1867, Nebraska was officially admitted to the Union as the 37th state in the United States of America. In order to celebrate this occasion, we are sharing with you facts from our organization and our website, Data-Z, about the state of Nebraska.
Nebraska did well financially last year, having scored positively in all of our financial evaluation parameters. In our 2020 Financial State of the States Report, Nebraska fared better than most states and ranked seventh for financial fitness out of all the 50 states, receiving a ‘B’ grade for their healthy financial state.

According to this report, Nebraska boasts a $2,500 Taxpayer Surplus in 2020, meaning that unlike most states before the crisis, Nebraska had more than enough resources available to pay all of its current bills, including public employees’ retirement benefits. This state also scored 80/100 for its Financial Transparency Score.

Nebraska has a slightly higher than average employment rate that reached 68.2 percent last year and 5.42 percent of those people are employed by the farming industry. Nebraska has a huge farming industry with 45 million acres of ranch and farmland which makes up 92 percent of the state's total land area.
