Jim Lambley, known for his conservative radio commentaries, is retiring.

The Twister is the latest acquisition for Flood Communications, which Mike Flood launched during his second year of law school nearly 20 years ago. His first station was US92 radio in his hometown of Norfolk.

The company, which focuses on local and state news, weather and sports, now has 18 radio stations and seven low-power TV stations across the state operating as News Channel Nebraska. The firm also operates Telemundo Nebraska, a news service, and Radio Lobo, the region’s first Hispanic music and information station.

As part of the new purchase, NCN plans to open a Sandhills News Bureau.

Flood, 48, was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives last year after then U.S. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry resigned after being convicted of lying to federal agents investigating illegal campaign contributions. Flood formerly served in the Nebraska Legislature, serving as its speaker from 2007-13.
