He steps in after Barry Fox’s resignation and says resolving the recycling center debate and balancing tight county finances will be early priorities. Govier’s first supervisors’ meeting is set for December 30 at the courthouse.

• School Board Gives Tobey Good Grades at Monday Evening Meeting (sandhillsexpress.com) — Broken Bow’s Board of Education gave Superintendent Darren Tobey high marks in his annual evaluation while juggling both superintendent and high school principal duties. Board members also reviewed school finances, discussed construction nearing completion with January move-in dates, and approved ordering a new activity vehicle. Residents can expect a January 5 retreat and the next regular meeting on January 19, 2026.

• NDOT Announces Grantees for December's 'Drive Sober' Campaign (ruralradio.com) — Broken Bow residents should expect extra DUI enforcement this holiday season, as the Broken Bow Police Department received state grant funding for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign running Dec. 10 through Jan. 1. The effort is part of a statewide push to reduce impaired driving, with more officers on the roads and a strong reminder to plan a sober ride home.
