OMAHA, NE β€” Cities and counties across the country continue to bring back many of the traditional Independence Day activities that were either canceled or modified the last two years. The Fourth of July holiday is just around the corner, so it's time to find out what fireworks and festivities are going on near you this year.

We have all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Omaha so you can start planning now.

July 4 Festivities

What: Red, White and Blue Block Party - Heartland Hope Mission will host its second annual Independence Day block party. The event is free and family-friendly for all ages. Attendees can enjoy live music, free food, water slides and yard games. Local businesses, churches and organizations will also have booths.

Where: 2021 U St., Heartland Hope Mission, Omaha, NE 68107

When: Saturday, June 26 - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.


What: Whitehawk Neighborhood Fireworks Celebration - P&J Band, a two-member group that plays hits from the 1960s, is hosting an Independence Day celebration. Expect live music and, yes, fireworks.

Where: 3961 S 194th St., Omaha, NE 68130

When: June 25 at 5 p.m.


What: Lake Manawa Fireworks - Fireworks are planned by Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the Lake Manawa beach. The beach will close immediately following the display. Admission costs $3 per person. Children under 2 can watch for free.

The event is organized by a nonprofit made up of local volunteers.

Where: Lake Manawa Beach & Picnic Area

When: Saturday, July 1, at 10 p.m.


What: 62nd Ralston Independence Day weekend celebration - An estimated 40,000 people β€” more than eight times Ralston's population β€” are expected to attend the annual parade. The parade will feature an emcee and grand marshals.

Where: Downtown Ralston (80th and Highland, ending at 72nd and Main Street)

When: July 4 at 1 p.m.


What: The City of Omaha Celebrates America - Sherryl Crow, Dave Mason and Da Crabby Blues Band headline the city's free celebration of America, and a fireworks show is planned at night.

Memorial Park will open at 5 a.m. Friday for those wanting to put down blankets and reserve a good spot for the shows. Music starts at 6 p.m.

When: July 22, 5:45 p.m. - 10 p.m.
