Omaha's Visiting Nurse Association partners with Goodfellows to help feed families (omaha.com) — Omaha’s Visiting Nurse Association is teaming up with the World-Herald’s Goodfellows fund to help local families put food on the table during the holidays. Archival photos and stories trace decades of Omaha schools, churches, and community groups rallying donations, coats, toys, and Christmas trees so underprivileged children here can celebrate with warmth, gifts, and full plates.
   

2. Omaha leaders launch child safety initiative to prevent accidental injuries (wowt.com) — A new child safety initiative based at Creighton University’s Child Safety Center in North Omaha is working to cut accidental injuries, the leading cause of death for kids. Located in the Highlander Accelerator, the center offers low-cost safety gear, free education, and outreach in schools, churches, and community groups, with a special focus on North Omaha families.
   

3. Spotlight on future of park serving North Omahans for more than century • Nebraska Examiner (nebraskaexaminer.com) — North Omaha residents are weighing a proposal to let the Lozier Foundation operate Miller Park while the city keeps ownership and public access. Supporters say the 10-year deal would fund upkeep and free city dollars for other parks, while skeptics want stronger transparency and assurances that North Omahans’ voices and needs won’t be sidelined.
   

4. Omaha's Broom Man statue finds permanent home after decade-long effort (wowt.com) — A long-awaited statue honoring Omaha’s beloved “Broom Man,” Rev. Livingston Wills, finally has a permanent home picked at Turner Boulevard and Farnam Street. Created by Omaha artist John Lajba, the life-size sculpture celebrates Wills’ work ethic and joyful presence, while organizers continue raising funds for installation and long-term upkeep through the Omaha Parks Foundation.
   

5. One person taken to the hospital after Benson shooting (ketv.com) — Three people were seriously hurt in a shooting near North 61st and Bedford Avenue in Omaha’s Benson area Friday night, with one victim receiving CPR on the way to the hospital. Two others were also hospitalized in critical condition, and authorities haven’t yet said what led up to the violence or whether anyone’s been arrested. Local crews are headed to the scene for more updates.
