SARPY COUNTY β€” Authorities believe the "Kool-Aid man" challenge may be to blame for a recent string of property crimes in which young people were captured on video running through fences like the iconic drink mascot, the Omaha World-Herald reported.

Nine juveniles received criminal mischief citations Thursday, according to the World-Herald, which reported many of the incidents happened late Monday and early Tuesday, and that up to eight residences in western Sarpy County, near suburban Omaha, had fences broken.

β€œThese vandals are causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage,” the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. Sheriff’s office officials did not respond to a request for more information.
