1. ‘Brain drain' alarm escalates: Omaha and business leaders flag job lag (1011now.com) — Omaha leaders are sounding the alarm about local “brain drain,” as new data show the metro lagging peer cities in job and wage growth and losing thousands of college-educated residents. City officials, the Greater Omaha Chamber, and the Aksarben Foundation are launching studies, incentives discussions, and a new 20-year comprehensive plan to boost high-paying jobs, transit, housing, and quality-of-life amenities.
   

2. Omaha updates electrical code requiring exterior power boxes for new homes (3newsnow.com) — New homes built in Omaha will soon need exterior power boxes so firefighters can shut off electricity from outside during a fire, under an updated city electrical code. Firefighters say this boosts safety and visibility in smoky homes, while builders warn it could add $700 to $1,300 to construction costs for future buyers.
   

3. One in extremely critical condition after crash in South Omaha (ketv.com) — Emergency crews rushed one person to the hospital in extremely critical condition after a crash Tuesday evening near S. 32nd Avenue and Hickory Street in South Omaha. Paramedics were performing CPR, and investigators are still working to learn what led up to the collision involving a bicycle and at least two vehicles.
   

4. Omaha fender-bender leads to officer being attacked with skateboard, teeth (wowt.com) — An Omaha fender-bender at 56th and Center on Tuesday evening turned chaotic when a driver allegedly swung a skateboard at an officer, bit another, and later kicked a third at Douglas County Corrections. Police say the incident began after a minor crash, escalated during questioning, and ended with the 28-year-old suspect facing multiple assault-related charges.
   

5. Waddles scores 19 as Omaha knocks off Doane 79-70 (kens5.com) — Omaha basketball fans saw the Mavericks notch a 79-70 home win over Doane, led by 19 points from Lance Waddles. The victory, played in Omaha and datelined Omaha, Neb., moves the Mavericks to 5-7 on the season with several players scoring in double figures.
