The Greater Las Vegas Short Term Rental Association has raised half of the $100,000 goal for its “Host Legal Fund,” according to a Facebook post by one of its co-founders, who says the Clark County Commission “is protecting the resort hotels corporate profits and bowing down to the demands of their corporate donors.”

Clark County Commissioners are finalizing a proposed ordinance this month designed to drastically reduce the estimated 10,000 to 12,000 unregulated STRs operating in the unincorporated county.
“We still have two final and powerful tools at our disposal to hold them accountable and to force them to remove all the unnecessary and overly-aggressive rules and regulations designed to deprive us from being able to host: 1. The ballot box, and 2. The Courts; and we will use both!!!” Jackie Flores, co-founder of the association, said on Facebook.

Her page also includes a list of state lawmakers who voted in favor of Assembly Bill 363, a measure that requires Clark County to regulate vacation rentals after years of inaction.
“Make sure to speak publicly at the upcoming County public hearings and hold all the public officials accountable for their disregard and disdain of the host community in Las Vegas,” Flores wrote.
Fundly, a fundraising platform, says the group is “asking hosts to donate ‘1-night’s stay’ from your rental to our legal fund. With your help, we will be filing a legal challenge against the overall regulations governing STRs.”
The Association did not respond to inquiries about who it intends to hire to represent it in a legal fight.
