• Chains required on I-80, Sierra passes in Tahoe as winter storm hits (rgj.com) — If you’re driving I-80, be aware that westbound trucks are being screened for chains at Mogul in Washoe County as a strong winter storm slams the Sierra. Chain controls are in effect on key stretches of I-80, Mt. Rose Highway, and US-50, with heavy snow expected through Christmas and into Friday, making regional travel slow and potentially hazardous.
