Detectives from Sparks and Reno linked thefts at six Dotty’s locations, recovering most of the $714,000 taken and highlighting the impact on local gaming workers.

• Is it illegal to set off New Year's Eve fireworks in Washoe County? (rgj.com) — If you’re in Sparks this New Year’s, remember that personal fireworks are illegal and can bring up to six months in jail, $500 fines per offense, and liability for fire costs. Washoe County, Reno, nearby counties, and the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony also largely ban consumer fireworks, with only tightly controlled professional shows and limited use at Pyramid Lake allowed.
