• 2400 Acre Winston Solar & Battery Storage planned for North Mason Valley NV (pizenswitchtimes.com) — Lyon County’s planning commission, meeting in Yerington, voted to recommend approval of a 2,374‑acre, 400‑megawatt Winston Solar and battery project in Mason Valley, about eight miles north of town. Commissioners attached strict conditions on traffic studies, NDOT review, irrigation district protections, and justifying reduced setbacks, after lengthy debate over safety, visual impacts, and long‑term economic benefits for the Yerington area.
   

• Rural Nevada Counseling breaks ground on 10,000 square foot building in Silver Springs (carsonnow.org) — Rural Nevada Counseling is building a 10,000‑square‑foot counseling and youth center in Silver Springs, while continuing to serve Yerington residents through its local office and 24/7 crisis line. The expanded facility will boost mental health and substance‑use services countywide and add a supervised drop‑in space for teens, with opening planned for late 2026.
