Botulism Risk On Certain Lots Of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula, NH DHHS Says
The company has voluntarily recalled the products because they were linked to a multistate outbreak of infant botulism.

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Public Health (DPH) advises parents and caregivers not to use certain lots of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula.
The company has voluntarily recalled the products because they were linked to a multistate outbreak of infant botulism. The recalled ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula has the following lot codes and “Use by” dates, which are located on the bottom of each can:
- Lot: 206VABP/251261P2 ("Use by 01 Dec 2026")
- Lot: 206VABP/251131P2 ("Use by 01 Dec 2026")
“It’s important for families and caregivers to check their pantries for these products, which have a long shelf life,” DPH Director Iain Watt said. “Anyone who has a can with one of the recalled lot codes should stop using the formula immediately and throw it away to protect your child’s health.”

Infant botulism occurs when a baby swallows spores of the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, which then multiply and produce toxins in the baby's large intestine. The earliest signs of illness may be constipation, difficulty feeding (sucking and swallowing), a weak and altered cry, or muscle weakness, which can progress to paralysis and difficulty breathing. Anyone with a child experiencing any of these symptoms should notify their child’s healthcare provider immediately.
