NH AG: Evidence Supports Self-Defense In Bartlett Fatal Shooting

Jason Sanchez, 23, shot and killed Samuel Lozada, 24, during an altercation in a parking lot while both men were shooting at each other.

CONCORD, NH — Attorney General John M. Formella announced the New Hampshire Department of Justice has completed its investigation into the shooting death of Samuel Lozada, 24, in Bartlett on July 5, 2023.

The final investigation report concludes that Jason Sanchez (age 23) shot and killed Samuel Lozada during an altercation in a parking lot in the vicinity of 25 Nordic Wilderness Road, Bartlett. Mr. Lozada and Mr. Sanchez were both armed with pistols, and both shot each other. Mr. Sanchez claims that he acted in self-defense. The report concludes that based on the totality of facts and evidence in the case, the State cannot disprove Mr. Sanchez’s self-defense claim beyond a reasonable doubt, and therefore no charges will be filed against him in connection with Mr. Lozada’s death.
