1. Great Scots! The 37th NH Highland Games & Festival is on for this weekend at Loon Mountian in Lincoln, NH. This is the largest Scottish cultural festival in Northeast with three full days and evenings of great entertainment. Fun for the whole family - competitions in Highland Dance, fiddle, harp, Heavy Scottish Athletics, sheep dogs, piping, drumming and pipes bands. Pageantry, Clans, shopping, food! 2. Outdoor fun...indoors! Get set for the hunting and fishing seasons ahead at the National Hunting and Fishing Day N.H. Expo, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. Admission is free! Stroll through more than 70 exhibits featuring hunting and fishing-related products and services. Lots of hands-on activities to try! Promotional support for the event is being provided by the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire, John Deere, Bonneville & Son Jeep and 96.5 The Mill.

3. Ssssssssss! Reptiles as pets will be the focus of the New England Pet Reptile Expo at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester. Thousands of live pet reptiles and amphibians will be on display and available for sale from breeders. Vendors will also be selling cages, terrarium supplies, and many other reptile-related items at discounted prices. If you like reptiles, or are looking for a scaly new pet, this is the event for you!

4. Gone fishin'! Opportunity Networks is holding their 18th Annual Catch and Release Bass Fishing Tournament – The BASSATHON-- on Saturday, Sept. 22. The fishing frenzy will take place at the Lone Pine Hunters Club in Hollis. They are looking for fishermen, sponsors and prize donations. It’s a great day, of fishing, food, fun and prizes! There is a $1,000 GRAND PRIZE and overall prizes for the top 7 catches! Great for the entire family! Kids division and prizes too!

5. Act off! Five theatre companies from around the state will perform at the 41st annual New Hampshire Festival of Community Theatre in the Amato Center for the Performing Arts in Milford on Sept, 22. Adjudicators will choose two of the performances to represent the Granite State at the regional Festival next February at the New England Regional. Performances will be spread over two sessions on Saturday at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. Festival entrants must adhere to strict time guidelines, taking no more than ten minutes to set the stage, one hour to perform, and ten minutes to strike the set. Immediately following each performance, actors and technical crew will join the audience to listen to the three adjudicators who will take the stage to deliver their critiques.
