Forecasters Warn Of Freezing Rain, Sleet, Ice Accumulation, And Gusty Wind Across New Hampshire
The National Weather Service issued winter weather and hazardous weather outlook warnings through Monday night for the Granite State.
CONCORD, NH — The National Weather Service issued two weather warnings on Sunday morning due to an ice storm expected to hit the region and bring freezing rain and sleet as well as wind gusts that could knock out electricity across the state through Tuesday morning.
The messy winter storm, which was expected to start Sunday night and run through Monday afternoon or evening, will bring freezing rain to the region and “make travel hazardous,” one alert stated.
“Mixed precipitation expected,” an alert stated. “Total snow accumulations up to one inch, sleet accumulations around one quarter of an inch, and ice accumulations between one quarter and four tenths of an inch.”

Difficult travel conditions were expected during the Monday morning and evening commutes.

Another alert warned of power outages, too.
“Gusty winds Monday night and Tuesday may post an isolated power outage threat depending on ice accumulations,” one alert stated.
Expect freezing rain to turn to rain on Monday morning, with temperatures near the lower 40s during the day. The rain will continue until early evening. Temps will drop to the teens during the evening and early morning hours with wind gusts up to 20 mph.
On Tuesday, cloudy skies, with highs in the 20s, and wind gusts up to 30 mph. Overnight lows will be in the teens.
More cloudy skies on New Year’s Eve with a high near 30 and a chance of snow during the evening and overnight hours. Overnight lows will be in the teens.
Expect sunny skies with highs in the lower 20s on New Year’s Day. Overnight lows will be in the single digits.
