5 Things: Girl Scouts Want Your Candy

1. Weather report: Today will have a nice dose of rain coming at ya with PM showers and a high of 65 degrees. Tonight will see more rain early with an overnight low of 53 degrees. Tomorrow will be warmer with partly cloudy weather.

2. Halloween Candy Collection. The Amherst Brownie Girl Scout Troop 20356 is collecting and distributing Halloween Candy donations to the residents of the Amherst Village for Halloween Trick or Treating. Please drop off your donations in the bins at the Amherst Library, Moultons Market, or The Homestead Grocery and Deli.  Collection will take place from Sunday, October 7 thru Tuesday, October 23.  Thank you for your support in making this a wonderful community event!

3. Patch Fact: Did you know: The Torino Impact Hazard Scale is used to categorize the chances of an asteroid or comet hitting Earth. The scale goes from zero to ten, with zero being no risk and ten being a certain collision, with global catastrophe imminent.

4. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. WMUR reports that The Nashua Aldermanic Committee has approved a proposal to fine aldermen who are not being respectful during board meetings. The fine is $10 for the first offense and $25 for each one that comes after.

5. Rowling magic. Well, it looks like J.K. Rowling is number one again with her new book "Casual Vacancy," according to USA Today. The book was released Sept. 27 with mixed reviews.
